I just purchased this karaoke machine at Radio Shack for $35. I am debating whether or not I will keep it.
There are still a number of features that I will be testing out, but for now, here goes:
Pros: Still working on those - haven't found any exciting ones yet.

Cons: Very lightweight and plastic-y unit. That makes it very portable, but it also means that it can easily fall or tip over. I would advise figuring out a way to fasten it or plant it securely somewhere....microphone output sound is very muddy (I used my own high quality mic)....mono speaker is relatively weak and it does not do well when the volume is cranked up....(you can add volume by connecting an amplified cd player to this unit - there's actually still some sound coming from this unit when your cd player is on and the power button on this unit is turned off - a ghost??.....)
Additional cons: using a 3.5 in screen for viewing lyrics is marginal at best. There is no cd player included, so you have to hook up your own cd player or mp3 player to this unit. I was unable to hook this up to my large external PA-type speaker. I am going to try a different method. There are output (red and white) jacks on the back of the unit, so this should be possible.

I am going to test how this works with an Ipod Touch just because I am curious. Supposedly you can store up to 1000 songs in the hard drive of this unit. In addition, supposedly you can change the key of the song - that interests me, but I am doubtful that it will work well.

I will let you know if I find any significant pros that would warrant keeping this karaoke machine.

For $34 on sale ($69 reg price would be a little too much. i wouldnt pay over $45) I think this item was pretty good. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for (I want a record and cd option) but i took it out to see the quality of the product. Yes, the songs were your run of the mill folk songs (jingle bells, oh susanna, old mac donald etc), but that's the point of the extra cd's for purchase. I thought the mic worked very well. I live in an apartment and I had the volume on 3 and was worried that our neighbors next door could hear me singing jingle bells to my daughter. If it had another mic and the timing on the lyrics (where they turn a different color for timing), I would have just kept this one and downloaded more songs myself. I'd say this was overall good for the money and if you're looking for more put in the extra 20 bucks like I'm going to and get what you want.
